Description
Sussex wines are becoming internationally famous - and local sparkling wines are a particular success story. A similar soil and climate to Champagne is helping local vineyards produce some award-winning sparkling wine right here in the Sussex Downs.
There will be a chance to sample some of the very best Sussex wines at the Brighton & Hove Food and Drink Festival this September (www.brightonfoodfestival.com) when Brighton wine club Love Wine will host a mini festival to celebrate this local success story.
Vineyards including Stopham near Pulborough, Highdown in Worthing, and Plumpton College will present some of their top-selling wines. Simon Woodhead, director of the Stopham Vineyard, will describe the challenge of planting 21,000 vines in the Sussex countryside. And Paul Fosse, Chairman of the South East Vineyards Association will be giving a talk.
There will be a bar selling Sussex wine, a barbecue serving award winning, organic sausages and burgers, a local cheese supplier, as well as coffee, tea and home-made cakes.
A 'Celebration of Sussex Wines' will take place on Saturday 18th September 2010, 12.30 - 6.00pm at the Hove Club, Fourth Avenue in Hove. www.thehoveclub.co.uk
